1. Contrast Mary’s response in these verses to the will of God with that of Zechariah, Elizabeth’s husband, in 1:18-20. In what ways are their responses similar or different to how you respond?
2. In her song, Mary clearly focuses on God’s faithful and mighty actions in history, and recognizes that He has lifted some people up and brought others low. What do you think of what God has done?
3. Does this give us confidence for our own lives in the present? Are there times when it might make us anxious?
