1. What are the sources of the Psalmist’s confidence that the Lord will hear and answer prayers? (Hint: look at the reasons that follow the word “for” in verses 1–4, 10, and 13.) How do these encourage you to persevere through difficult, even desperate, times?
2. Who or what are “the gods” that threaten our devotion and fidelity to the one God in Jesus Christ we seek to worship? How do we show by our lives that “You alone are God” (verse 10)?
3. Why is it good news that we are servants (verses 2, 4, and 16) of “a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (verse 15)?
