1 Peter 4:7–11 – "Grace: Looking Next Door" – Kerry Kaino

Questions for Reflection:

1. How do you define “hospitality”? What do you think of the following definition: “Hospitality is about making room in our lives for others”? In what ways is fear a deterrent to being hospitable? In what ways is hospitality different from entertaining?

2. Why do you think “grumbling” is mentioned in the same context as “hospitality”? What might “hospitality” look like outside of the context of one’s home?

3. What does it mean to be “faithful stewards of God’s grace”? What does it mean to do this “in its various forms” (verse 10)? What would you say to someone who feels that they don’t have any special gifts with which to make any significant difference in people’s lives?

4. Peter’s words in these verses are written in the life context of suffering and crisis. In what ways does that context give us new insights?
