Matthew 14:25 – "Suddenly … Jesus" – Kerry Kaino
Questions for Reflection:
“Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.”
1. It appears that Jesus did not quickly come to the rescue of the disciples. Does that surprise you? Why do you think Jesus might have been slow to act, and if slow, in whose mind?
2. The disciples did not expect to see Jesus walking on the water, no less in the middle of a storm. In what ways might this be an encouragement to us when we are experiencing trouble in our own lives? Is it true to say that God is full of surprises?
3. When we are in the middle of our storms of life, trying to stay afloat, trying to survive … and we call upon God to rescue us … what are we hoping for, looking for? In what ways might God surprise us? Also see Isaiah 55:8-9.
4. How can we know that God will always come through for us?
