Questions for Reflection:
1. Peter’s response to Jesus in v. 28 begins by mixing certainty (“Lord”) and uncertainty (“if it’s you”). How does this compare to your relationship to Jesus?
2. What does the boat (v. 29) signify to you? When is it good to stay in such a vessel, and when is it good to get out?
3. What does the image of Jesus walking on water (vv. 25–26) mean to you? What does the water signify to you?
4. Spend some time envisioning the most amazing life of faith you can imagine for yourself—think big, and keep going, even when you think you can’t imagine anything better… How might Jesus be commanding you to step out into that life?
