October 31 Seattle Walking Tour

Are you interested in a historic Seattle walking tour to learn more about the Japanese immigration story, Presby’s history, and the development of Seattle?

The next Seattle walking tour is set to be on October 31, Halloween, depending on the level of interest. Led by John Okamoto, he will need a minimum of 8 individuals (15 maximum) in order for the tour to take place.

There will be lots of learning, exploring, and a stop for food. If you, your family or friends would like to join, please RSVP to John at john.okamoto@gmail.com.

Donations for Café Gratis

Café Gratis is collecting food and toy donations to welcome people checking in at the immigration office. Many arrive with small children, and all of them deserve to see a friendly face at a moment that can feel intimidating. If you would like to donate, please refer to the list of suggested items below, and drop them off in the red bin located in the church foyer:

  • Pastries
    • Conchas (Bimbo brand) – available at Costco
    • Mini Mantecadas (Bimbo brand) – available at Costco
    • Conchas and Mantecadas are the clear favorites at the table, after coffee

• Cookies, sweets
  • Small bags – Teddy Grahams, Oreos, Rice Krispies Treats, Chips Ahoy, Nutter Butter Bites, etc. – anything sweet in mini bags would be great
  • Nutrition bars (Sweet Nature Valley, etc.)
• Crackers, chips, nuts
  • Ritz bits, Goldfish, etc.
  • Any chips in mini bags
  • Small bags of nuts

• Liquid refreshments
  • Ground coffee
  • Water (short 8-oz bottles – available at Fred Meyer, etc.)
  • CapriSun, other juices
  • Kirkland Organic Applesauce pouches

• Fruit
  • Small oranges – mandarins, cuties

• Toys, etc. (items to keep children entertained and distracted from the tension around them)
  • Most of the items listed are available at various dollar stores
  • Balls, bubbles, small cars and trucks, small plastic or stuffed animals, frisbees, . . .
  • Coloring books, crayons, water coloring books that require only water to activate paint colors, . . .

Church School Fall Quarter

We are currently in our fall quarter for church school classes, which runs until December 6, 2026. Church school takes place every Sunday from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM.

If you are interested in registering your child or youth for our age-based classes about the Bible and spiritual formation, please complete our Registration form for children and youth for each child 0–19 years old. You can find more information about classes and other activities on our Children + Youth ministries page. Please reach out to Pastor Byron if you have any questions.

Christian education studies for adults are also available during this period. If you would like to learn more, feel free to contact the office.

Neighborhood Bible Study (Monthly)

The Neighborhood Bible Study will resume next month on October 21 with a monthly frequency of third Wednesdays at 7 PM.

We will be studying Mark chapters 11–14 on 9/16, 10/21, 11/18, and 12/16 of this year and chapters 15 and 16 (the end) will be 1/20/27 and 2/17/27.

B(elonging) Groups

As part of our Building Belonging campaign, we are launching B Groups (or Belonging Groups) this September!

If you aren’t part of any small group at Presby (or want to join another one), please take a look at our six regional B Groups (see the map above for approximate boundaries) as well as other options and fill out the interest form and a leader will contact you.
